Yes well done. May I suggest a section dedicated to individual satellites were we can discuss frequencies and tracking issues on each.

I need some feedbacks from members.
Should we have a forum dedicated to individual satellites?
we can make it compact (similar to Regional Viewers Forums)

what you think?

Vetrun.com takes care of all that.

Yes Vetrun.com specializes in that.

Its Not necessary to split them up the main function of this forum is DTT and DVB-S (Freeview mostly) leave it how it is if it needs to be expanded later on its no hassle.

A simple later split could be FTA Cband (Big Dish)

I think this is a good idea

vetrun is run by australians for australia

Be good to see a forum with NZ only Freq etc

It all depends on the shape this forum is going to take if satellites will be more of a sideline then so be it, I myself favor it as Satellites is my hobbie preference depends on how the moderators want to steer the forum. I suppose if it get too broad ranging before ya know it this forum will be another Austech.

No thats is totally wrong Vetrun.com covers AUSTRALASIA

Plenty of NZ posters on it.

I really think there is no need to recreate it. It does the job well.

With DTT being targetted at 75%-%86 population coverage I'm expecting it to be the main "theme" of this new forum.

DVB-S (Freeview) has its place of course.

Let's get what we have going, first, and see how it turns out.

I think people are confusing forums with topics. You don't need a forum for every topic. The use of decent topic titles and the search engine should make finding discussions on any particular topic pretty easy.

Also conversations tend to involve more than one topic, eg someone may post "tuning with dvbtune works on Optus D2 but I can't get the same invocation to work on Satellite XYZ" - should this go in the Optus D2 forum or the Satellite XYZ forum? Neither - it should go in the DVB-S Reception forum.

By the way why do we have these 3 forums "DVB-S Transmission Coverage", "DVB-S General Reception Coverage (Freeview etc)" and "DVB-S Satellite Reception" - surely these overlap considerably and could be combined.

Yep, I entirely agree with everything said here...

If you want to highlight specific information in one of those forums, you can make a post sticky (ie, always at the top). For example, in one of the DVB-S forums you could have a sticky post called something like "Optus D1 feeds" (just an example).

I stand corrected Craig

My point was that it is good to see a NZ only forum
instead of having to filter through feeds and info on australia only transponders

I will look at the DVB-S forum section later to see if we need to reorganize it.

But it was done to split the terrestrial and satellite versions into 2 sections. Yes the DVB-S coverage group is overlap and could be merged into the main DVB-S group as a sticky pin.

Most of the talk in there will be FREEVIEW related.Maybe we split the group to DVb-S (Cband big dish)

So any more thoughts on Sat section it seams to be growing nicely.

What about for Optus D1 and D2 since they are particularly relevant to NZ?

Not really needed for the current amount of traffic in this group.
