Agree 100%. Why do they pay all that money to FV just for a 1 hour delay of the crap they showed 1 hour earlier.. A new channel like Movies or maybe "Those programs that didn't rate with the advertizers so we pulled them after a few episodes and you will have to buy the DVD if you want to see the rest of the series or wait a year or two until we run out of late nite content"

How much more room on freeview does mediaworks have for additional channels?

At the moment the bit rates they are using on C4 and TV3 PLUS1 are a lot higher than then really need to be. Their multiplex should be capable of 2 HD channels and 2-3 SD channels or 1 HD channel and 5-8 SD Channels.

so we really should be expecting more out of mediaworks sometime

other question is, will this new channel be added to the Sky digital channel lineup?

One is looking forward to some of the sky channels becoming avail on freeview, "one for one", why is it that everyone expects all freeview channels to be all on sky, why not the other way round the platforms do need to act with independence, it is a matter to individual broadcasters to decide on which, as for our national channels TVNZ6/TVNZ7 on sky only if this is reciprocated by sky providing two channels free to view on freeview "Prime" an or "sky movies" and or any other of the sky channels will do, the hands off
approach by our new GV, is best, an best left to the broadcasters alone.

Mediaworks have been allocated freeview channel 9 but in the current financial market I wouldn't expect anything new from them for a while. TV3 PLUS1 is pretty much a stop-gap service so as they were required to launch a new service this year.

At present PLUS1 will be a freeview exclusive service.

Your joking right?????? are you taking about DVB-S?
TV3 seems to be a fixed bitrate of 4mbps, TV3+1 is 3mbps & C4 is 3.8mbps
They should be more like 6mbps (DVD quality) like they were before they started TV3+1
right now they look all compressed & crappy

Sorry I was talking about DTT.

On DTH (satellite) they use the Kordia transponder and have a lot less capacity.
