Went to watch House on Freeview|HD tonite and noticed that the picture was about 5 seconds ahead of the the sound. AAC and AC3. All other channels were OK. Watched it on Sky instead. Boston Legal and the ads are the same..

i dont know about tv3 last nite as i wasnt allowed to watch hd so i recorded on sky , but the other nite there was a movie on tv2 which was way out .
so its good in some ways as it proves that the syncing problem is not related to the stb but with the tv station,

on slightly different angle but also interesting is the so called pixel effect on the ET. I was watching life on mars on tv3 and every now and then i would get about 10 to 15 frames of the Asb guy breaking into the stream, this happened about half a dozen times throughout the show and always it was the same 15 frames . this totally shoots down peter's theory as posted on his web sight www.satlinknz.co.nz about the breakup being caused by another frequency or a cell phone . why i say this is how can the same segment be breaking in more than once when that particular scene is only displayed at the beginning of the show. my theory is that the said 15 frames are being pulled from the video buffer when the Chanel being watched drops the channel video lock below a set point . so why is the video buffer not being cleared ?and also why does the epg cache need a hard reboot on a daily basis .these issues appear to be only with the ET and not with other stb's. this video breakthrough was not with the original software as supplied by the Chinese back in June of 08

Yes I noticed the lips were out of sync while watching the "Demo" just before 6 and the start of the TV1 News at 6.

My ET STB has started this behaviour recently. A few frames starts flicking up from the past semi-randomly until you reboot the box. 'Fortunately' mine is inclined to spontaneously reboot by itself.

I think that the ET has poor software for fault handling/memory management and/or poor hardware. Someone mentioned on the geekzone forum about there being a 'bad batch' of boxes - but then never explained more. I am on my second ET box. Replaced the first one about a week after purchase because of reboots and picture breaks ups. The second box is pretty much the same. Had the aerial/cabling checked - apparently fine and a good line of sight to the transmitter and a very strong signal strength. Recently borrowed another ET box off a friend who bought one a few months before me and had said his worked fine on a weak signal. It certainly was much more stable. Never rebooted the whole week and no break ups on tv1 or tv2. Very little break up on tv3 (mine goes completely crazy). He is running a september 08 software version. Mine have both been running later software.

A couple of people reckon the later software caused the units to go nuts. I'm sure I dont know the answer.

Wouldnt recommend the ET to anyone unless they get a guarantee that they can take it back to the seller for a full refund if it doesnt work.
