hello ,

i am wondering what are the highest vantage points accessible on foot or by bus from auckland to the highest peak with a lookout serviced by tourist operaters and the general public for the purpose of recieving DTV signals because im looking for some interesting DTV captures for my DTV page. oh yeh it would be a page just for my trip to new zealand.

The Sky Tower?

But you may melt your receiver? as you would only be a few meters below the transmitter?

Probably along the ridge from Waiatarua or maybe Mt Eden
but you be hammered from the main TX stations . Try Northland !!

Come in the summer months there is very little DX in the winter

Any DX reception you should stay away from any high power transmitter site . Find a RF quiet spot in a valley facing west helps as it reduces signals from NZ stations on same Freq and height for trans tasman reception doesn't always help the signal can be in a duct and received at sea level !!
I have had cases where signals were very strong at near sea level and near zero on a 600m high hilltop
