Try a local store? as NZ models are completely incompatible with what you use over there.

hello,

i need one with the new zealand channel frequencies so i can use it when theres a trans-tasman tropo opening. been plenty of those already just need to be in the right place at the right time.

Possibly a USB tuner stick with correct software may be the easiest for you to get hold of , but they may not be the most sensitive for DX reception :D:D

On UHF your chances of catching NZ digital tv during any troppo would be pretty remote.

not arguing with you over this but todd elsmile in sydney plus plenty of others from the icdx yahoo group say they can get TV NZ TV 1 (Channel 1) from the Hedgehope transmitter via e-skip

TV NZ TV 1 TV DX via sporadic E (http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=lfQ7NoP5zlY)

Australia TV DX group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/icdx)
wenton in baccus marsh can get RTQ 0 Toowoomba QLD(46.172mhz) on his portable casio in a train.

um, me next. well ill need to be sse of new zealand. the only vantage point is on straddie. dont know when ill be able to get there.

anyways
hope this helps

You are missing the point, NZ digital tv is on UHF not Vhf

In past years I have received Aus SBS on UHF so if the ducts are in the right place it can work in reverse.
I have also worked Australia on UHF amateur bands with just 10 watts of power during ( openings )

Maybe so but, even if the signal did come through what would be the chance of digital actually locking and loading then playing?

I've seen some photos the web of USA digital dx reception..

He could have just as much luck as you getting a lock from Auckland or Waikato
I received SBS once with very strong signal way above whats need for DTT
and it lasted 4 to 5 hours but this is the exception rather than yearly Trans Tasman openings

okay,

i checked my HDTV reciever this morning and our frequency spread is 522.5
not 522.0 (channel 27) so it wont work so ill need a new zealand set top box.

any recommended set top box retail outlets that will ship internationally and what box would you recommend to me.

Our boxes are backward compatible to Mpeg2 I will Have a look and see what can do 7 and 8 meg spacing and pref have VHF as well so you don't just have a box that works only here

The Hyundai might be an option
I looked in My Zinwell and it seems to Scan UHF only

ours can be mpeg-2 or 4. i need a mpeg-4 new zealand box because our mpeg-2 one are incompatible.i need 8 megs for nz coverage. my aussie set top boxes wont work there. okay the hyundai and/or zinwell you recommend ill go with that.

thanks for the input steve ill keep you posted on the DTT trans-tasman UHF pix when i get those.
