so far I've used and tested a few HD recievers with so called "HDD PVR functions" and most of them work very well but only with "USB2.0 FLASH drives" and not actual full capacity hard drives meaning the most you can hope to record to is a 32gb flash drive rather than a 250gb+ HARD DRIVE, has anyone come across a freeview terrestrial reciever that actually records to a physical HDD? (under $1000)

500GB and 1000GB 3.5" USB 2.0 HDDs are being sold as options for the Hyundai unit. Maybe some but not all USB HDDs work with certain units?

Purchased a "Genius TVGO HDTV - USB" as a Christmas gift for my son. $100.00 retail approx.

My son reports that it receives 15 channels (Lots of reserved)
He is happy with the picture quality (Has nothing to compare it to) However he states that it is easy to see the difference in the quality between Standard and HD content.
Has recorded to the HDD but currently reports that playback crashes the PC
Records .tc files
Changing the extension to MP4 enables the movie to be played but with no sound.
Records the whole screen including black space on a 4:3 program. Properties states that it is recorded interlaced.

Unit runs very warm to the touch.

Reception - He lives in Mt Wellington and does not have a decent outdoor aerial.
Analogue C4 fades in and out. Digital signal pixilates occasionally.
Comes with an indoor aerial - reception about the same.

PC specs 3 months old - 4 core Intel + Vista 32bit + dual NVIDIA video cards + the fastest of everything Games machine.
