This site must have been conceived over a few whiskys late one Friday afternoon...
The site is 543m above sea level and is supposed to serve South Canterbury region for TV3, C4, Prime & Maori TV. Most of the populated area (Timaru, approx 10km's away) doesn't have clear line-of-sight to this tx, which may account for it's designated high-power (according to Kordia maps).
Kordia's own Mt. Studholme on the other hand, commands greater saturation due to it's 1000m plus altitude @ medium power. This site also has TV3, but none of the other services which are currently on Cave Hill.
I'm currently in Waimate (50km south of Timaru), and receive TV1, 2 & 3 services from Mt. Studholme clearly, but a very ghosty and snowy signal from Cave Hill, using the appropriate antenna. Some residents even require a 91el UHF to resolve Prime and Maori to an acceptable viewing quality. Some still prefer to watch a snowy (but ghost free) signal from direct Christchurch some 180km away.
I'll try to get a pic of Mt. Studholme when the cloud clears...
