Hi all,
Is there a way I can get Freeview HD in Whitby Wellington? I've been told that the signal isn't strong enough. Can I boost it?

Yes well it looks like a prick of a thing !! LOL :D:D:D:D ( Baxters )
Depends on where you are Whitby. I can get HD from both Baxters Knob and Kaukau. No problems at all. You need a good antenna.

I also live in whitby (Halyard Pl), and am wanting to try and get freeviewHD.
I want to buy a 91 element aerial, some rg6 and plug it directly into tv. An IDTV.
There is currently a small, old sky uhf on roof which im pretty sure is connected into a box on the mast with the VHF also.
I cant imagine i would have line of site.
Should i even attempt this??

if you allready have a dtt box or tv then try it and see or see if you can borrow a box to ensure reception before shelling out a heap of cash .personaly i prefir the sat service

If Maori TV and Trackside TV on UHF analouge is of reasonable quality ,
even with just a small amount of snow grain present , then in most cases the DTT will work . There are exceptions to the rule as you would expect .
Up the coast I have purposely fed some absolutely disgusting signals into the Sony DTT set ( ANALOGUE very bad ) and it still works

I presume you mean the transposer at the start of the inlet close to S 58 / S1 it is called Golden Gate but there is not D T T there .
The other option for DTT is Baxters Knob UHF site near Pol College

Cheers.
Its funny to. I look at everyones aerials in the street. And there all pointing diff directions. Some horizontal and some vertical settings to.
I dont think I can see the sites at all. I mean im down by the lakes so, thats pretty deep to me.
Does anyone here use an idtv?
I take it the aerial just plugs in? No power ness?

If you use Mt KauKau the antenna is Horzontal pointing that way
if its vertical is likely to be on one of the many transposer sites
I use a Sony W40 set with built in HD DTT etc
The antenna plug should go straight in and be shared by the analogue and
DTT tuners
