i have just noticed a change to the epg format . before it was now and next now it is now next and next , plus there are time spaces to match programs but no text data. basically means i can book programs thru the epg without the need for mheg5
what are freeview up to i wonder. ?
oh and btw i am using a haupage usb tuner with dvbviewer software.

I expect they are getting it ready to be compatible with the soon to launch PVR?

Nope I'm afraid not.
As suspected it is all for the PVR application. Look up CRID for more details, but it is a well defined standard. Most DVB meta data applications can analyse it like dvbsnoop.

"TV3 Freeview|HD Issue
On Wednesday Freeview began broadcasting a very different EPG which has added data to allow recording from the EPG. While Freeview has done as much testing as they were able to before launching this new EPG, the added data has caused some issues with certain receivers on 1080i streams. At this time only TV3 is broadcast in this format.
The problem is seen as a green flash on the screen on TV3.
We have been informed from various users that a number of receivers suffer from this issue, including even some Zinwell boxes. However updates will quickly be provided to resolve any problems. "
