As a recent owner of a Sony 46V300 with a analog only tuner I asked Sony NZ will there be after sales DTT tuners available for installation.

Here is their reply

"Thank you for contacting Sony NZ.

At this stage our Bravia marketing team are looking at Digital tuners either to include them in newer model Bravia LCD's or the separate box. At this stage the New Zealand team are looking into it with the Sony Japan design team and are looking for release early to mid next year.

I hope this helps resolve your query. If not, or more information is required, please contact us on 0800 SONY NZ (0800 766 969)."

I'm hoping it will not be another STB..

The tuner is only a small part of the process, it simply recieves the signal and converts it to an IF frequency that is fed to a demodulator, in this case an MPEG 4 demodulator which then either distributes the transport stream or reconverts the TS to a suitable input for the TV, normally A/V RGB, S VHS, if sony infact design a (TUNER ) it sounds like a (SIDE CAR ) Tuner /Demod which will provide a suitable input to your TV.

YOU therefore have just brought a SONY STB.
