Zinwell 620HD issues!

Hi there, I live in Avondale, Auckland. My current setup is Samsung 46inch LCD tv and Zinwell 620HD (UHF antenna) connected via HDMI cable.

I get good reception with maori channel and other channels.

My issues are:

1. When i watch some programs with the subtitles, some of the letters are missing in the words. Which happens quite a lot and almost all the time. (not a major issue for me though). Just wondering why?

2. Also the EPG (electronic programme guide) does not update all the time. I did autoscan few times and then it works fine for a while and then the EPG stop working again.
I have also tried setting it to defaults and rescan all the channels and then it works fine for 1 or 2 days and then back to normal EPG not working.

I am only guessing, but i think it could be the firmware issue. I am at work now so cant tell you the firmware version now if you need.

But please advice, what could the problems for above?

Do the software update from over the air if not done already
I have not had the issues you report .

On Manual Scan mode what is the Sig and Quality bar indicating
when set to each of the 3 UHF Channels ??

Well the first time ever when i turned on the Zinwell decoder, it did an upgrade automatically through the air.
I will have a look at the signal strength and let you know tonight.

But i get very clear picture of all the channels.

Could it be the decoder itself? thanks

Are you on the Zinwell's internal Subtitles decoding or on the TV's Teletext subtitles on page 801 ??

I have noticed the TVs own teletext decoder does not seem to work well being fed from the from the zinwell

I am using the Zinwell's internal subtitles. Never tried the subtitles through TV at all.

I try mine tonight and see what happens . Is this on TVNZ or TV3 ?

The subtitles issue is still there even though i turn the zinwell on and off, and autoscan again, and also set to defaults.

Could it be the firmware issue? do you guys know where i can get a new firmware for this zinwell? i tried to look on their website, but i couldnt find it.

Also i have checked using manual scan for signal strength and signal quality, their was no signal bar for quality or strength. So does that mean its Zero??

Can't be as i can see the channels quite clearly. Will check again tonight.

On manual scan use the remote control arrow key and move up through the channels manually In our area its 48 50 59 but Auck will be different
when you get to an active DTT channel the Sig and Quality Bar will activate

If you did the software update from the over the air method you have the latest release .

I havent had any probs with the subtitles but have an issue with what looks like lag. With slow pans and credit scrolls the image grabs every second or so making the footage appear jumpy. This may not be an issue with the zinwell it may be the encoding. Anyone else experience this?
