Hi there,
I have done a search and could not find the answer, so hopefully someone can help me. I am wanting to record from the Freeview set top box to my Sony DVD Recorder's hard-drive but read somewhere on here once that you can't link it up through HDMI and that S-Video would be the only way.
Is this correct?
If so the S-Video cable won't be much to buy, but for the sound will the standard white and red RCA cables be sufficent??
Thanks Alot,
Graham.

It's a DSE HD DVB-T Receiver (G7503 -DSE Code).

As a quick fix I have a couple of wires (Composite and Audio) coming out of the Freeview HD box and into the back of my Panasonic HDD. I then tune the HDD to the AV4 Channel (click down the tv channels on the Recorder –3 -2 -1 – AV4) and hit record. The Sony will probably be similar
The Freeview HDMI cable goes straight from the STB to the TV - so I'm not about to change that!

YC ( svhs ) is about the only way as most home dvd recorders wont record via component , some have RGB though .
I would also avoid STBs that don't provide SVHS fortunately the zinwell does !
But avoid the single RCA CVBS ( composite ) as the results are terrible !!

I didn’t think it was so bad – perhaps a bit like recording onto a tape. Perhaps I should head out and get a Svideo cable so I can record a bit more of the Olympics!
