The one thing that I have noticed on both CH1 and 3 is that the sub channel is way too loud on my system compared to DVD and my HD media player. During Xmen on Saturday nite I had to keep increasing the volume for speach and droping it when effects came on. Not sure what sort of adjuastment I can make to my subs..

possibly just a program source problem
I hope TV 1 indicate DD progs on the EPG likeTV3 does

There should be nothing coming out of the sub for speech, I didnt look at it, but assuming they are broadcasting it properly, then the .1 will just have effects in it, so you turn down the LFE mix on your reciever. If there is stuff coming out your sub at other times, then you either have small speakers and its redirecting the bass as it should do, or tv3 are jerking around and not sending a proper LFE channel. The worst DVDs for that are concert ones where they put a second copy of all the bass into the LFE for some stupid reason, so make sure you are comparing with a proper movie DVD.

I am comparing it to "proper movie DVDs" and there is no speach or the like coming out of the subs just an over kill of effects compared to the center speach channel.. Nothing in the Draco manual about changing LFE mix..

DVB devices like DVD players (without internal DD decoders) have no control over the DD stream, they simply pass it out, your AVR can manipulate it, however it sounds like its an encode/mix problem, maybe TVNZ are on training wheels.

HD broadcast starts tonight with the Olympics coverage, can't say I'm the biggest fan of sports, but in HD it's going to be worth watching. Here's hoping that they boost Sport Extra to be in HD as well, I don't think that only the big sports should have HD coverage.
EDIT: that'd be tomorrow night, I thought it was Friday already. Wishful thinking on my behalf :D
