Appears Sky have fired up two DVB-S2 transponders on Optus D1. Sadly I can't scan them fully as I don't have a DVB-S2 compliant card at the moment.

12331 H SR 22500 FEC 8/9
12358 H SR 22500 FEC 8/9

12331 is showing 3 HD services
SID 701 = SKY HD Launch 3
SID 702 = Test72
SID 701 = SKY HD Launch 1

12358 is also showing 3 HD services
SID 801 = Test 81
SID 802 = Test 82
SID 803 = SKY HD Launch 3"

There is also a new SD service on 12608 which is probably a promo to up-sell the HD Service
SID 1205 = SKY HD Launch 1

Are they fta or encrypted?

The channels are marked as CA enabled (ie encrypted) but I can't confirm as I can't handle DVB-S2

I thought Sky were only going to use MPEG4 and DVB-S
or was I misinformed

All I knew was H.264. Nothing had been confirmed about broadcast. I had heard that the tuners were DVB-S2 capable as the same hardware is produced for other markets.

Strangly I cannot pick these up with my DVB-S2 tuner.. I can pick up all the normal DVB-S channels ok.

I might be doing something wrong :-(

Tried this morning on Kaon HD receiver. Scanned in OK but all encrypted by NDS.

I would make sense to use DVB-S2 instead of just H.264
But this is Sky we are talking about
