Data loss. They can only to recover the database up to Mar 30 2008.
This is ridiculous.
That was the worst web host I've ever come across.
New users have to re-register and all post after Mar 30 2008 have to be re-posted.

Bugger. So who were you using?
I was using 3ix.org
They seemed to be pretty fast.
This is currently hosted at hostdepartment.com
But I get Unable to connect error sometimes. Maybe I should switch back.

It's unbelievable that these people didn't have daily backup.
It's one of those standard features for web hosting.

Not only did we lose the users and posts, all the Linkback will point to invalid link too.

This site is currently hosted at reliablesite.com
It should be quite reliable, as the name implies.
Report to me if you find any technical issue. I'll send you a beer :D

We are waiting for the domain's DNS to propagate.
At the mean time, use http://dtvforum-co-nz.web2.reliabledomainspace.com/forum/ to access the forum.

ok I've done some traceroute and it looks like the DNS is propagating smoothly. Now we need to wait for the NZ ISPs to update.

Sorry to hear about your troubles guys - I hope the new host is more reliable. However, I'd suggest running your own database backups regardless of whether the host offers a backup service or not as there are some horrendous web hosts out there.

This conversation was held after the server crashed. I tried to get the tech support to retrieve the backup copy of the database by asking how often they do their backups.

I have reposted quite a few news items into the NZ news section for historic purposes.
Most of the NZ item's since the March 30th backup date, althought I don't think there is a way (Vin???) to reinsert them into the thread in sequential order as originally posted.
if anyone has an archive of NZ news items that are missing pls fwd and I will try and add them.
