Can someone who can handle their 1080i signal care to do a test and confirm it has audio?

vPID H.264 = 450
aPID HE-AAC = 400
aPID AC3 = 410

Hi all,

Anyone actually had a dolby digital signal yet?

Im running a HDMI cable to my Yamaha reciever and dont appear to be receiving a DD signal. I had a look again the other night while watching Underbelly which i thought may be transmitting DD? Is it just me?

Cheers

Nothing by my Toslink cable to Sony Amp at the moment just comes up
PCM .but there were tests there around late December , but nothing since.
The D D symbol from the EPG has gone too .
I did email Freeview about it a month or so back but no answer !!

:(:(

i have Jurassic park 3 running and stats are AC3 5.1 16:9 1920x1088 25fps 384kps 48kz 10.4MBt audio sounds heaps better than the tin can 96kps aac. sound levels are a lot lower probably due to less dynamic compression.
i am using a hp pavilion dv6820tx through bvbviewer, h.264 codec is coreAVC
AC3 is ffdshow

I watched CSI: New York Tuesday and as per the Freeview EPG it was transmitted in Dolby Digital. SUPERB 5.1 soundtrack with great placement and depth.

Excitedy I waited for Underbelly (DD soundtrack shown on the EPG) and sadly it was transmitted in plain old vanilla stereo (which sounds AWFUL on a home theatre). Switched to PCM track and thankfully the Dolby Prologic kicked in to at least give me the centre channel with background "effects".

TV3 are getting there, but it is rather frustrating at times.

Like you say its getting there so thats a start.

Im running just the HDMI cable to my Yamaha amp and have yet to see any digital, are you running through HDMI only or with a digital audio cable also? Just thought i may be missing something like HDMI wont cut it :D

HDMI cable direct to Plasma but digital cable to my Home Theatre (no HDMI input - only optical and digital for sound). So I can't really help with regards to whether HDMI cuts it when fed direct to an amp ... sorry

I have had a play with my Zinwell DTT box and my pioneer home theatre receiver. I have been baffled by the fact even though the box is set to output Dolby (AC3) the amp only see’s PCM. They are connected via HDMI (With a HDMI output from the receiver to the TV). A nice tidy one cable solution for sound and HD vision. I have discovered the Zinwell only outputs Dolby via the optical or coaxial digital. And PCM via the HDMI (that’s stereo only PCM!!).I rang the Zinwell help line and the guy confirmed my results. Well I believe that is a joke, the whole idea with HDMI is one cable does all. I am not happy.

From my observation this limitation effects nearly every HDMI sporting DVB device on the planet, the Foxtel iQ2/Sky HDi suffers the same issue, as does the SkyUK boxs and from all accounts all other HDMI DVB boxs. The limitation is related to the level of support the various chip manufacturers have put in their chipsets.

There was a slight problem with the sound on TV3 tonight from about 5:40pm to 6:05pm. On Freeview the sound would skip every second, like someone breaking up on a cellphone. On regular TV it just had a scratchy crackling in the background.

Seems to be all fixed now though.
