Some recent photos of the addition of the Digital UHF Antenna .
It is the 12 panels in Orange ( in the CH 1 Low Band antenna area )
Not quite as high as the existing UHF analogue services at the very top

Something Ive noticed on most of these pictures is the radiation pattern differences between UHF & VHF. The UHF on most sites seems to be directional while VHF uses "rap around" omnidirectional antennas. Does anyone know after DSO (digital switch over) the DTT will have a similar radiation pattern as the VHF. I would of thought on the above site the UHF would be omi directional (flat panel rap around) to aid viewers up the valley & Top of the South Island coverage. Have they gone cheep & decided to just focus on the main population basses?

There may be some changes after the close of analogue on UHF , The top UHF antenna could become the MAIN and the existing dtt the standby .
Many cases the tower is full at the upper level , hence the location of present dtt antennas

How does the transmission work back home. Do they use A & B transmitters that are in phase feeding into upper & lower antenna systems? Wouldn't of been better replacing the UHF combiners feeding the DTT & UHF analogue in the same combiners, while doing so & going into reduced power or reserve antennas.

Yes in many cases 2 antennas 2 feeders 2 transmitters
there will no doubt be many antenna / tower changes at the close of analogue .
Unused antenna arrays will prob be removed to reduce wind and ice loading !!;);)
