Hey guys,
I'm an Aussie flying over to Christchurch on Sunday morning and wanted some advice on your digital terrestrial tv over there please.

I believe the Australia vs Germany World Cup match will be shown live on TV NZ 7 but the place where I am staying only has access to your analog channels. Since I'd rather watch the game at home than have to go to a pub at 6am (not even sure if any will be showing our games live) I wanted to know if a fairly cheap DSE set top box I bought back in 2006 (lost the manual so not sure of the model number!) would pick up your terrestrial digital signals if plugged into a UHF aerial and thus allow me to watch the socceroos crush Germany..? Or would I need a special freeview certified box?

I have a feeling that the place I am staying may only have rabbit ears... If the answer is yes I can use my old set top box, do you think I'd get a strong enough signal to pick up digital channels (haven't used rabbit ears for years and never with a set top box).

Sorry if this comes across as a stupid question. All this freeview jazz is a little confusing for me. We just plug any old set top box into the UHF aerial over here and away you go. I'm hoping it's the same over there.

Really appreciate your help guys. Looking forward to checking out NZ.

Cheers!

our freeview boxes were not on sale until mid 08 so the oz ones very unlikely to work.
live on s** & tvnz 7 6=8.30 am mon am...bring a sat box and borrow their sky dish if they have 1.
