Was in the Papatoetoe store of the Appliance Shed and saw three Philips DVDR9000H DVD recorders there for around $500 complete with 400 gig HDD and DVB-T Terrestial tuner. No one seemed to know if they would work here so searched the net and found that they seem to be an Australian model released in June 2006 in Ozz and have the Ozz DTT tuner. I've also asked Philips NZ the question but don't think I'll get any joy as it's not listed in the NZ web site.

Anyone know ??

Thanx. This looks like the same model that Hardly Normal was trying to sell for $1500 a couple of months ago. Maybe Philips bought some across and then found out that they weren't compatable and if trying to get rid of them..

Yep $500,, If it sounds to good to be true it usually is,
I think this will just be the start of consumer confusion,
I cant wait for retailers to start selling DVB-T here in Nelson
(There is no transmission here)
Also consumers buyin off ripme will have no idea,
I can see it now " Ive plugged my DVB-T receiver into my sky dish but i cant get a signal "

They might have to settle for "Satellite tv on pc" the long running Trademe scam.

What next "Freeview satellite tv on PC " ;-)
