HI,
I have a 40V4000 Sony Bravia TV with build in Freeview HD. I live in Hillcrest on the shore and am receiving freeview via UHF.
I've recently noticed the new Prime channel in the EPG but when I try selecting it, nothing happens. It seems to be on channel 10 but after entering this number using the remote's keypad I just get the "programme number is not available" message.
After trying all of the channels in the EPG I've found that I can watch channel 1, 2, 3, 4, tv3 plus, channel 6 and channel 7; but I cannot watch Maori TV, the Chinese TV, Pariament TV, etc.
Would this be just a reception issue or does this indicate a problem with the tv's build in tuner?

Maybe a bit obvious, but have you tried re-tuning your tv?
It should just appear, but.......

You may need to get someone to take a look at your aerial and cables. I've seen a couple of these cases where 2 out of 3 multiplexes have strong signal, and the third gets no reception.

I too have this exact problem, with the same model Sony TV. Have tried retuning several times. Have even manually tuned it. When tuning the channels on that mux they show up...you can see the channel playing in the background, it seems to tune it in OK. But when you go to view them, the TV says there is no signal strength. None. Even though there is full signal strength on the other muxs. Could this be a fault with the TV itself?

If you are not receiving 1 multiplex its unlikely but not impossible , to be the set . Its most likely an antenna / antenna config problem and or feeders and splitters .
If you have a SONY you can go onto signal / BER mode
1/ select the channel that has the problem
2/ press OPTION on remote
3/ scroll down to bottom of menu to SYSTEM INFORMATION
4/ press the big ENTER button
you should see Software version but more important is Signal Level
and the more important Bit Rate I'm currently getting 3.58 - 4
at a distance of 71km and obstructed path from transmitter with no issues on Prime HD Test Maori etc
I did some tests by adding attenuators and if this drops in to the higher error rate eg X X - 3 then freezes and flashes can occur . When finished press RETURN to escape menu
I have seen one where the antenna was very good and close LOS to transmitter and into the - 5 was showing
It would also be helpful to know which transmitter site ( main ) or Infill you are on also type of antenna some brands / models don't perform well on the upper channels esp the Tri band VHF L VHF H and UHF combos . One type of UHF only I came across had alloy tube directors rather than flat strip it was found that grinding off 2mm from the front directors improved the performance on the top 50s and 60s channels
Some splitters are poor on UHF suggest F type with rating up to 900 Meg
and terminate any unused outlets ( if fitted )
Also use High Quality RG 6 Coax Joins must be done correctly not electricians choc block strip etc
