Is there anything in this site to stop a spamming bot from littering over this site?

doesn't appear so:eek:

Spam gets removed once seen, but i dont check the site every 5 minutes.
I will talk to Vin to see what other plans he can put in place to stop the spambots.

First thing is you make all new registrations by approval only of the moderator who can look at the registration email and also delay them by 24 hours as well you get a reasonable idea of the genuine ones . that tends to get rid of most spammers

Some spam filtering is being added. If you see some spam appear do not panic. The site will be learning various spam types while the filter gets customized.

you need to address new signups to the board !!
Spam filters unfortunately dont stop what we have seen in the past

Yes that is part of it, but i've also been deleteing perfectly normal looking mails that are in fact 1st posts from spammer accounts.
Normal looking username
lame messages like
"Hi, guy i'm new here this is my 1st post. Is anyone into the hobby of running"?
now think why would someone from belguim sign up and post that in NZ news?
just be patient, Vin might like to comment

Sorry if any spam appears , since early last week we are being bombed with over 100 spam moderated posts per day, not many get through but still its annoying to delete them every few hours.
