SBS Australia FTA currently Optus D1

Optus D1 12646 V Sr 12600 Fec 5/6 a mux containing several SBS Australian channels has started.

including one in HD 720p (Mpg2)

Optus D1 is used by SBS to distribute their transmission to land based TX sites.

But this broadcast is using the dual Australia+NZ beam which makes it viewable in New Zealand...

If I were a betting man I would assume once the Ozzys realize that NZ tax payers can see one of their Ozzy tax payer funded FTA channels they will somehow block it..

If you are a business and plan to sell the service, it won't be around long at all!

The industry needs to learn lessons from past experiences regarding cracked services and feeds like this one. I think of ABC Northern, 7 Central, Imparja, SBS and more notably the 7 feed on 12637 which mysteriously displayed a test pattern after a report from the NZ Herald, gained by the reporter scrolling through industry installation websites.

Well, Aussie taxpayers fund the Australia Network, which people in NZ can pick up but aren't supposed to, so won't really care. Programme rights holders, however, are more likely to kick up a fuss.

Well ABC Northern was on B1 for ages as was the ABC Victoria interchange on PAS 2 Ku for a considerable period . EMTV - PNG , which carried much CH9 material was also Fta on Gorizont/Rimsat at 142.5 E C band , there for a long period too , but programme rights may have got much stricter now !!

:D:D The main thing is now that Media shuts up and retailers of hardware dont advertsise it !! :D:D

Providers realise that if they put their channel on a dual beam FTA that everyone is going to know its there. Wether or not the Aukland Hearald reports this makes no difference. It is just pure coincedence that they put colorbars up at that particular time. All feeds disappear at some time. That is the nature of the beast. If the provider did not want it to be seen it would be encrypted in the first time. Putting it FTA on the dual beam tells me they are not worried if someone in NZ can watch it.
