I am about to move to Melrose. Will I be able to get a strong enough DTT signal from the Fitzherbert transmitter? The place cannot see Mt Kaukau and the neighbor seems to have their UHF aerial pointed at Fitzherbert.

There is currently no UHF aerial on the house. So I just wanted some advice before I started spending money.

I am planning on getting the Vantage HD 6000T/NZ box.

Yes, a lot of Melrose residents use Fitz for TV3/Prime analogue, however most also have amplifiers fitted which may cause problems.

Having said that, if the house you are moving into has no UHF aerial and all you're wanting is DTT, then you may not need an amp at all as DTT doesn't require as much signal as analogue.

Talk to Matchmaster/Strongline, and perhaps buy a TX16 or TX30. They were designed in Wellington, for places like Wellington in terms of signal vs. geography.

Long ago superseded by 'overseas models'.

I have done around 20 installs for DVB-T in Hataitai,Kilbirnie etc and all but one were directed at Kaukau.
The erp from Fitz is not particulary strong in that direction.
Should still work though,PM me if you need an appraisal install etc
