As some will be aware, Friday June 12th 2009 is analog TV switch off date in the U.S

It's pretty amazing that a country with 300 million people can switch to digital with relatively little fuss and yet here - with only 4 million - you need 3 different set to boxes (FreeviewHD, Freeview Satellite and a Sky decoder) to get all the digital free to air channels!

Come on Dr Jonathan Coleman sort this mess out!

Wasn't free to air analogue TV on a relatively small scale in the US though? I thought the majority of viewers have cable or satellite-based subscriptions?

But I agree NZ's situation is a mess!

They have big problems, low power UHF taking over from many VHF services..

Many rural people left without tv.

quite a mess they mostly have rotators and receive multiple channels from different sites.

Wonder what it will be like here if we ever turn off analog.

As a side note while all this was happening KCBS radio in San Jose , CA celebrated 100 years on continuous radio.
