Do built-in digital tuner tvs power an in-line amplifier?
I heard they dont.
Would the only other solution be a powered amp/splitter?

I have not seen that feature on my Sony . The problem being there are so many different amplifiers with different voltage and current requirements .
I have seen them from 5 V DC right up to 22 v AC

Also beware of some mast head amps they can cause problems if not correctly installed or of poor quality . They can also overload or suffer from Intermodulation for other strong radio signals . If you amplify too much you can also cause overload and intermodulation inside the Set or STB tuner
